I was pleased to receive your letter from the 18th of Teves, 5712, and surely in the meantime you have also received my letter with its enclosures.

a) I was happy to read in your letter that the fundraising campaign is progressing successfully. May Hashem grant continued success in the coming days in a fitting manner and with an increase in quantity in the literal sense. Surely you will continue to inform me about this as well.

b) I enjoyed reading in your letter that you plan to travel these days to Radazye and visit the larger towns there. Certainly there too you will act according to the wishes of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe—not only to gather material support but also to sow spiritual seeds. Surely you will succeed in finding among them descendants of Anash (our people), to inspire them and awaken them to their roots. It would be good if you could also inquire about other nearby countries and visit them as well.

c) I was pleased to read in your letter about your regular study sessions with Rabbi ... shiyichyeh, and today I also received his letter. Surely you will find ways that will leave a lasting impression and desire for this learning even after you leave there.

d) It is very good that you are encouraging Haraha"g Haraha"ch vavaha"ch iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z Moreinu Harav Yirmiyahu Elai about the great necessity of arranging farbrengens and classes from time to time. There should have been interest in publishing articles about Chassidus and Chassidim in local newspapers in the language of the country; surely there is already material ready from what has been printed until now in English—such as from Sefer HaZikaronos (the Book of Memoirs) and transcriptions of talks by my revered father-in-law, both in English and in Hakriah V'Hakedusha, etc.

e) Regarding youth: he has been sent by mail separately what was transcribed here from talks with students here; perhaps he can use this appropriately.

f) Your report regarding Mrs. ... tichyeh—that they decided to perform surgery on one eye without waiting long—may it be G‑d's will that the surgery go well and she recover soon. I do not know the custom there, but if there is a perpetual lamp (ner tamid) in the synagogue she should participate (but not establish it from scratch). If there is no such custom, she should accept upon herself for some time responsibility for providing candles for the synagogue. She certainly blesses candles on Shabbos eve and Yom Tov eve; it is good that she sets aside charity for Rabbi Meir Baal Haness before lighting candles.

g) Enclosed is a letter for ... shiyichyeh; thank you very much for delivering it to him.

h) Enclosed is a transcript of a talk before students on the fifth night of Chanukah as well as a transcript of a talk before lay leaders of Tomchei Temimim during their visit with me.

i) By chance—I saw (and as is known from the Baal Shem Tov's approach everything is by Divine Providence)—regarding Haraha"g HaYashish Reb Chaim Yosef Isser HaLevi Beit Gad shlita from Johannesburg who published Sefer Reb Ephraim on Torah—it would be appropriate if possible to encourage him; likewise if there are other authors in places you visit they should send all their publications to my library. Also suggest they send them books published by Kehot Publishing House—books of Chassidus etc.—in exchange. My request—if it is not too much trouble—is that if you come across rare or hard-to-find books that could be exchanged for those mentioned above published by Kehot, please do so as well; this would be doubly beneficial: they would receive books on Chassidus etc., which at some point they will surely study, while those rare books would be here where they certainly have inner value as well.
