Shalom u'Vrachah!
I received your letter and the pidyon nefesh for your daughter and son-in-law, to be remembered for good children. When I am at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory, I will read it.
You write at the end of your letter: "And I will distribute, G‑d willing, a lot of money for Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch when we are remembered." This statement does not seem proper to me. Why should one make conditions with the Holy One, blessed be He? It is known from our Sages: one who gives a sela to charity for such-and-such purpose is a complete tzaddik; nevertheless, they did not mention making a condition that one will give only after their request is fulfilled. Surely you also understand that when there is a question of whom to trust more, certainly the Holy One, blessed be He, is supremely trustworthy and also omnipotent.
I am interested to know about your set times for studying both nigleh (revealed Torah) and Chassidus. Surely you are also careful to say Tehillim every day.
With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches not to make conditional pledges with G‑d but instead to trust fully in His faithfulness and omnipotence. He encourages consistent Torah study and daily recitation of Tehillim as expressions of devotion and trust.
