קבלתי מכתבו עם הפ"נ מאדר"ח כסלו ובו מבקש מחילה על אי כתיבתו עד עתה,
והנה אינני יודע מהו המקום כאן לבקשת מחילה על אי הכתיבה. והשנית מאחר שכבר נתעורר לכתוב, הנה אינו מזכיר את העיקר שבו הי' צריך להתחיל, והוא מענין הקביעות עתים לתורה שיש לו בנגלה ובדא"ח ובהשפעתו על סביבתו, וכלשון תביעות נשיאנו מכאו"א מאתנו להיות נרות להאיר ומכיון שנמצא הוא במקום אשר עיני ה"א בה מרשית שנה עד אחרית שנה, הנה בשם צ"ל כל הענינים ביתר שאת ויתר עז. ובודאי במכתבו הבא יודיע ג"כ ע"ד כל הנ"ל, וגם ע"ד פעולתו בענין הפצת המעיינות חוצה בחדש הגאולה הוא חדש כסלו.
בברכה לרוב נחת אידישן חסידישן נחת מכל ילידיו שי' וחסידישן נחת גם ממנו וזוגתו שיחיו.

I received your letter with the pan from before Rosh Chodesh Kislev, in which you ask forgiveness for not writing until now. I do not see the need here to ask forgiveness for not writing. Furthermore, since you have already been inspired to write, you do not mention the main point with which you should have begun: regarding your fixed times for Torah study in both Nigleh (the revealed dimension) and Chassidus, and your influence on your surroundings. As our Nasi demands from each of us—to be candles that illuminate. And since you are in a place about which it is said 'the eyes of Hashem are upon it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year,' all matters there must be with increased strength and vigor.
Certainly, in your next letter you will also inform me about all the above, as well as about your activities in spreading the wellsprings outward during this month of redemption—Kislev.
With blessings for much nachas—Jewish and chassidic—from all your children, and chassidic nachas also from yourself and your wife.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that one should establish regular Torah study times in both revealed Torah and Chassidus, strive to positively influence their environment as a shining light, and actively participate in spreading Chassidus—especially during Kislev, the month of redemption.
