אם ירשה לי הזמן אבוא עוד בכתובים עד"ז, והנני להעירו גם עתה ע"ד נחיצות ההכנות לימי ההתועדות דחדש כסלו הבע"ל והם ימי יו"ד וי"ט כסלו וחנוכה והשבתים שבינתים.
ומהנכון הי' לקיים בזה הזמן הענין דיפוצו מעיינותיך חוצה שזהו מענינא דיומא, היינו שנוסף על ההתועדות שתהי' בבתי קבוצי אנ"ש ובפרט בהישיבה, ונוסף על ההתועדות שיהי' מכל אנ"ש ביחד, הנה כדאי להשתדל לעשות התועדות בבתי כנסיות השייכים לזה, וכמובן שבכל התועדות דשם יהי' ג"כ ב"כ מאנ"ש והתמימים שיוכלו להפיח רוח חיים, חיי החיים, וחיים דחיי החיים (כמבואר במכ' - הנדפס בסוף הקונטרס די"ט כסלו הבע"ל, - הנשלח בשעתו להרה"ג והרה"ח מוהרא"א ז"ל פלאטקין) ונכון להשתדל ג"כ שיפורסם הדבר במכ"ע וגם באופנים אחרים המתאימים כדי שאפילו אלו הנמצאים בחוץ לגמרי ידעו על דבר "העמדת הפנס" וחל ע"ז פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, שכשמעמידים פנס ברחוב מתקבצים סביבו, והלימוד בזה בשתים: א) אשר אין להסתפק בהאור שבבית, כי ענין הפנס הוא להעמידו ברחוב ב) אשר לבד אלו שצריכים להשתדל בהתקרבותם, הרי ישנם גם כמה וכמה אנשים שעצם מציאות אור ממשיך אותם, ות"ח מראש על הודעתו בשו"ט בכל הנ"ל.

... Enclosed is the kuntres for Cheshvan that has just been published, and surely you will merit to benefit the public with it in an appropriate manner. If time allows, I will write again about this matter, and I wish to point out now as well the necessity of preparing for the upcoming Kislev farbrengens—namely, Yud Kislev, Yud-Tes Kislev, Chanukah, and the Shabbasos in between.
It would be proper at this time to fulfill the idea of 'Yafutzu Maayanosecha Chutzah' (that your wellsprings should spread outward), which is relevant to these days. That is: in addition to farbrengens held in Anash community centers and especially in the yeshivah, and besides the general farbrengen for all Anash together, it is worthwhile to try organizing farbrengens in other synagogues connected to this effort. Of course, at each such gathering there should also be representatives from Anash and the temimim who can infuse them with vitality—Chayei HaChayim (the Life of life), as explained in the letter printed at the end of the upcoming Yud-Tes Kislev kuntres (which was sent at its time to Haraha"g veHaraha"ch Rabbi Avraham Aharon z"l Platkin).
It is also proper to make sure this matter is publicized in newspapers and through other suitable means so that even those who are completely outside will know about 'setting up a lantern.' Regarding this, there is a saying from my father-in-law, the Rebbe: when you set up a lantern on the street, people gather around it. The lesson here is twofold: a) One should not be satisfied with light inside one's own home—the purpose of a lantern is to place it outside; b) Besides those who need encouragement to draw closer, there are many people who are drawn simply by the presence of light itself.
