Strengthening Youth's Torah Study and Guidance on Yeshiva Attendance

The Rebbe writes about the importance of not weakening youth in their desire to study Torah, but rather strengthening them. He advises that boys should attend yeshiva full-time for at least a year or two, and parents should delay concerns about their children's livelihood until they are older.

Shalom u'Vrachah! In our confused times, especially regarding the youth—when, may Hashem bless them and their children, they are strong in their desire to study Torah and have no doubt about it—it is especially important not to weaken them in this at all (for weakening can lead to seeds of doubt, etc.), and on the contrary, one must strengthen them in this.

This is relevant not only for the success of their studies but also for the completeness of their worldview and so that they are not enticed at all by the outside environment, etc. (including—at college).

Therefore, it is advisable to influence your son... that he should enter yeshiva for the whole day, at least for a year or two.

Regarding the livelihood of your sons, wait until your sons begin to speak up to that point. And may Hashem grant you success.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that youth's enthusiasm for Torah study must be supported and strengthened. He encourages full-time yeshiva attendance for at least a year or two and advises parents not to worry prematurely about their children's future livelihood.
