במענה לההודעה אשר במוצש"ק פרשת אם כסף תלוה את עמי תתקיים האסיפה השנתית של החברה והמלוה מלכה, כמנהגם הטוב מדי שנה בשנה –
יהי רצון שתהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ובהוספה ועלי' על אלו דשנים שעברו – וכפי

כח): מעלין בקודש.
והנה גדולה גמ"ח דהלוואת ממון (יותר מן הצדקה) – שהיא
בין
לענים בין לעשירים,
ולא עוד אלא שאפילו בנוגע לענים – היא
"מעלה
הגדולה
(בצדקה)
שאין למעלה ממנה" ו"פחות מזה הנותן צדקה".
ולכאורה יש בצדקה מה שאין בגמ"ח דהלוואה – כי בצדקה הנה
במעות
אלו הי' יכול לקנות חיי נפשו החיונית הרי נותן חיי נפשו לה' – נתינת ממון שלא על מנת להחזיר.

הכתוב – דכל איש אשר ידבנו לבו ויתרום

וכסף גו' לקרן גמ"ח הרי כל המעלות האמורות ישנן בתרומה זו.

B"H, Shalom u'Vrachah! Tuesday, the day that was doubled with "ki tov" (it is good), Parshas Im Kesef Talveh Es Ami, 5729. Brooklyn, NY.
To the leadership of the Shomrei Shabbos Gemilus Chasadim Society — may Hashem be upon them for life — Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your notification that on Motzaei Shabbos Kodesh Parshas Im Kesef Talveh Es Ami, the society's annual gathering and Melaveh Malka will take place, as is your good custom every year — may it be in a good and successful hour, with increase and elevation over previous years — as per the command (which is also an empowerment): "Ma'alin b'Kodesh" (we ascend in holiness).
And behold, great is gemilus chasadim (acts of kindness) through lending money (even more than charity) — for it applies both to the poor and to the wealthy; moreover, even regarding the poor — it is the highest level (in charity), above all others and less than this is giving charity. Seemingly, there is something in charity that lending does not have — for with charity, with this money one could have bought his own vital needs; thus he gives his very life to Hashem — giving money not expecting repayment.
But nevertheless — and in fact, according to Scripture — anyone whose heart moves him and donates gold or silver etc. to a gemilus chasadim fund possesses all these virtues in this donation. Furthermore — and this is essential — according to the words of my revered ancestor Admor HaZaken: among the matters of teshuvah ila'ah (higher repentance) is cleaving to Him — emulating His attributes: just as He is merciful etc., so too one's actions should be acts of tzedakah to revive the spirit of the lowly as it says: "For six days Hashem made..." as is known from elsewhere.
