Shalom u'Vrachah!

Your letter from Motzaei Shabbos Parshas Va'era with the pidyon nefesh was received in its time.

In response to your question (at least briefly): Only in Beriah, Yetzirah, and especially Asiyah is there found an entity which—according to its perception—has no prior cause or reason. This is because it was created from that which has no cause, etc. See Iggeres HaKodesh section 160.

Mohe Yehuda: Shmotkin. Additional letters to him—see above Chai Tet Zera, and as referenced in the notes there.

In response to your question: The difference between Beriah—which alone has the power to create something from nothing—and Atzilus, which is called revelation of concealment; after all, even Atzilus is a new entity. As it is said: "More than the distance between Asiyah and Atzilus is the distance between Atzilus and the Creator."

Summary

The Rebbe explains that only in the worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and especially Asiyah does an entity perceive itself as having no prior cause—reflecting their unique mode of creation. He clarifies the distinction between true creation ex nihilo and mere revelation from concealment.
