ו לפלא שזה זמן רב ביותר שאין ממנו ידיעות, אבל תקותי חזקה שבכל אופן ממשיך הוא בלימוד תורתנו הק' בכותלי ישיבה, שגודל הענין מצד עצמו ידוע ומבואר בכמה מקומות בדברי רבותנו ז"Kל, נוסף על זה ששנים אלו הם שני הכנה לכל משך ימי החיים, שכיוונם ושלימותם תלוים בישרות ביסודיות ותוקף ההכנה, שלכן תמיד כדאי להוסיף עוד ועוד בתקיפות ההכנה, כיון שהתועלת נכפלת פי כמה במשך עשיריות שנות החיים הבאות לאחרי זה, ובפרט שלפי גילו אין זה עדיין בגדר ההוספה לזמן הדרוש כ"א זמן הכנה עצמה, שמהנ"ל מובן, שכל שבוע וחדש שעוסקים בתורה בהתמדה ושקידה כדבעי, שענין זה אי אפשרי אלא בדבוק חברים בכותלי ישיבה, ולא רק שאין זה ענין בלתי תועלתי ח"ו אלא אדרבה זוהי תועלת המקסימלית שאפשר לקבל ממשך זמן זה, וכידוע גם על זה המשל, אשר הוספה קטנה בגרעין הנטוע נכפלת פי כמה וכמה באילן שגדל אחר כך.

It is surprising that it has been such a long time without any news from you. However, I strongly hope that in any case you are continuing to study our holy Torah within the walls of the yeshiva. The greatness of this matter is well known and explained in many places in the words of our Rebbeim, of blessed memory. Additionally, these years are preparatory years for one's entire lifetime; their direction and fulfillment depend on the uprightness, foundation, and strength of this preparation. Therefore, it is always worthwhile to add more and more to the strength of this preparation, since its benefit is multiplied many times over throughout the decades of life that follow. Especially considering your age, this is not yet considered extra time beyond what is required but rather still part of the essential preparation itself. From the above it is understood that every week and month spent studying Torah with diligence and proper effort—which can only truly be achieved through bonding with friends within the yeshiva walls—is not only not unproductive, G‑d forbid, but on the contrary, it is the maximum benefit one can receive from this period. It is also well known by analogy: a small addition to a planted seed multiplies many times over in the tree that grows afterward.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that time spent immersed in Torah study within yeshiva forms the essential foundation for a person's entire life. Every effort invested now will yield exponentially greater results later on—just as a small improvement at the seed stage leads to much greater growth in maturity.
