Shalom u'Vrachah!

In reply to your letter of the 21st of Menachem Av, together with what was enclosed with it:

May it be G‑d’s will that he, and likewise his wife, sheyichyeh, throw themselves into the sacred work with the ten faculties of the animal soul, and certainly with the ten faculties of the G‑dly soul. In which case, it is self-understood that the body not only does not interfere, but performs its function in a complete manner.

Then the assurance of our Sages will certainly be fulfilled: “You have toiled and you have found.” This is both a demand and an assurance. And the meaning of “you have toiled” is literally that — you have toiled, you have labored intensely — and then, “you have found.”

As was explained at the farbrengen here, it does not say “you have attained” or “you have understood,” for in that there would be nothing novel. Rather, the Torah assures that the success will be in the manner of a “find,” to such an extent that, seemingly, one does not understand how it is possible for it to be so far beyond proportion.

This is readily understood.
