במענה על מכתבו מכ"ב טבת, נהניתי מתוכנו ממה שכותב אודות התועדות והעיקר אשר מתרבה המשתתפים בהם וגם מאותם החוגים אשר לע"ע נמצאים עדיין חוצה ובודאי יוסיפו אומץ בזה והשי"ת יצליחם...
מ"ש אודות זמן ק"ש שאדמו"ר הזקן בסידורו פוסק לחשוב השעות מהנץ החמה והצ"צ חולק על זה. - והנה (אף שלא שמעתי בזה בפירוש, אבל) כיון שהצ"צ רק מסתפק ומקשה בדברי אדמו"ר הזקן (בודאי כוונתו להנמצא בחידושיו על משניות ברכות פ"א משנה ב'), הרי לא מפני זה משנה ההלכה ופס"ד מפורש ובמקום שחלק הצ"צ הנה כתוב בזה בלשון יותר ברור, עיין פסקי דינים לקוטים בסופם בהנוגע לברכת שהחינו פורים בבקר, וכן בהערות שנדפסו בסוף פסקי דינים הוצאת קה"ת.
בשאלתו אודות התלמידים שיש הרוצים לרבות בלימוד הנגלה ע"ח לימוד החסידות ולאידך גיסא, הנה בכגון דא א"א לקבוע מסמרות כיון שתלוי בטעמי הרצון וסיבתו, והעיקר שיש לתקן הדבר בנועם, ובכלל ידועה השיטה אשר ע"י דיחוי פועלים מעט מן המעט, ואולי גם זה לא, משא"כ כשהתלמיד נמצא בהד' אמות וממשיכים בהשפעה עליו.
בודאי ינצלו ימי ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע יו"ד שבט הבע"ל, באופן המתאים בנוגע להגדולים עם הקטנים והשי"ת יצליחם.

In response to your letter from the 22nd of Tevet, I was pleased with its content, especially what you wrote about the farbrengen and mainly that more participants are joining, even from circles that for now are still outside. Certainly, they will gain strength in this and may Hashem grant them success...
Regarding what you wrote about the time for reciting Kriat Shema—that the Alter Rebbe in his Siddur rules to calculate the hours from sunrise, while the tzt"z disagrees. Even though I did not hear this explicitly, since the tzt"z only expresses doubt and raises questions on the words of the Alter Rebbe (certainly referring to what is found in his novellae on Mishnayot Berachot chapter 1 mishnah 2), nevertheless, this does not change a clear halachic ruling and decision. In places where the tzt"z disagreed, it is written even more clearly—see Piskei Dinim Lekutim at their end regarding Birkat Shehecheyanu on Purim morning, as well as in notes printed at the end of Piskei Dinim by Kehot publication.
Regarding your question about students—some wish to increase their study of Nigleh at the expense of learning Chassidus and vice versa—in such matters it is impossible to set a fixed rule since it depends on the reasons and motivations. The main thing is to correct matters pleasantly. In general, it is known that by pushing away one achieves little if anything at all; whereas when a student remains within our environment and receives ongoing influence, much more can be accomplished.
Certainly you will utilize the days of yahrzeit of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), which falls on Yud Shevat approaching soon, in an appropriate manner regarding both adults and children. May Hashem grant you success.
