Overcoming Anger by Remembering Hashem's Presence

The Rebbe writes that to overcome anger, one should remember what is written in Tanya: that Hashem stands over him and examines his heart. Even in a moment of anger, recalling this truth will immediately dispel the anger.

Regarding your writing about the trait of anger, etc.—engrave in your memory what is written in Tanya chapter 41: that Hashem stands over him and examines the kidneys and heart, etc. When you remind yourself—even at the time of anger itself—that literally Hashem stands over him and examines, etc., surely the anger will immediately pass, etc.


Summary

The Rebbe teaches that recalling Hashem's constant presence and awareness helps a person overcome anger instantly, as explained in Tanya chapter 41.
