רק ימים אלו נתקבל ספר המשניות צילום אמשטרדם תכ"ד, והנני מודה לו על שימת לבבו לשלחו לי, וגם בעד הקורת רוח שגרם לי בראותי שעושים מזכרת ונחת רוח לנשמה. ובפרט שנעשה בהידור. שאם בכל הזמנים הוראת התורה –
התנאה לפניו במצוות
, ספר תורה נאה כולי, על אחת כמה וכמה בתקופתנו דרגילים לדרוש שיהי'

מפואר ועל ידי זה באים להנמצא בתוכו חכמה מפוארה.
ויהי רצון שממנו יראו הרבה וכן יעשו, בהזדמנויות של שמחה וטוב, בטוב הנראה והנגלה, לעשות להם ציון בעניני תורתנו הק', תורת חיים, ולימודה באור וחיות,
וכהוראת חכמינו ז"ל

Only these past days did I receive the Amsterdam Mishnayos facsimile volume, and I thank you for your attention in sending it to me, as well as for the pleasure you caused me by making a memorial and satisfaction for the soul. Especially since it was done with hiddur (beauty). For if at all times the instruction of Torah is to 'beautify oneself before Him with mitzvos,' a beautiful Sefer Torah and so on—how much more so in our era when it is customary to demand that the vessel be splendid, and through this one attains the splendid wisdom within.
May it be G‑d's will that many will see this and do likewise, on occasions of joy and goodness—goodness that is visible and revealed—to make a mark in matters of our holy Torah, a Torah of life, and its study with light and vitality. As our Sages taught: learning that leads to action; great is the merit of one who brings merit to the many.
