הרב רחמ"א שי' חדקוב מסר לי הידיעה על דבר נסיעתו ביחד עם זוגתו שתחי', והנני מאחל להם נסיעה בהצלחה, שהצלחה במושג היהודי היינו שבכל מקום שיהודי בא שמה ממלא שליחות בורא עולם ומנהיגו, שליחות של השפעה באורח חיים על פי תורת חיים ומצוותי' עליהן נאמר וחי בהם, חיים כפשוטו גם בעולם הזה.
ובטח שמע שהי' מנהג ליובאוויטש שבמוצאי שמחת תורה, בסיום הימים טובים דחודש השביעי והכנה לימי החול, להכריז ויעקב הלך לדרכו, פירוש לדרכו דרך הראוי לו מהשם יתברך המשגיח על כל אחד ואחד בהשגחה פרטית, שאז זוכה לסיום הכתוב ויפגעו בו מלאכי אלקים, לשמרו בדרך ולהגיעו למחוז חפצו.
ויהי רצון שימסור לאחינו בני ישראל בכל מקום שהם דברי התעוררות, בפרט אחרי ביקורו במדינות שמאחורי המסך, שיכול ללמד להם ק"ו, ומה שבתנאים ההם יהודים מתלבטים להשאר נאמנים לה' ולתורתו במסירות נפש ממש, על אחת כמה וכמה שכל יהודי הזוכה לגור במדינות שיש בהן חופש הדת שמחובתו וזכותו לנצל האפשריות במילואה בכיוון הנ"ל ולהיות עינו טובה גם בשל אחרים עד כמה שידו מגעת ובאופן דמוסיף והולך.

Rabbi Rachma"a, may he live, Chadakov informed me about your trip together with your wife, may she live, and I wish you a successful journey. Success in the Jewish sense means that wherever a Jew goes, he fulfills the mission of the Creator and Ruler of the world—a mission of influencing through a lifestyle according to the Torah of life and its mitzvot about which it is said 'v'chai bahem' (and you shall live by them), meaning actual life even in this world.
Surely you have heard that it was a custom in Lubavitch that on Motzaei Simchat Torah, at the conclusion of the festivals of the seventh month and as preparation for weekdays, they would proclaim 'V'Yaakov halach l'darko' (And Yaakov went on his way), meaning his way—the path fitting for him from Hashem Who watches over each individual with Divine Providence—so that one merits the conclusion written: 'Vayifge'u bo malachei Elokim' (and angels of G‑d met him), to guard him on his way and bring him to his desired destination.
May it be His will that you convey words of inspiration to our fellow Jews wherever they are—especially after your visit to countries behind the Iron Curtain—which can teach them a kal v'chomer: if under those conditions Jews struggle yet remain faithful to Hashem and His Torah with true self-sacrifice, how much more so should every Jew privileged to live in countries with religious freedom feel obligated and privileged to fully utilize these opportunities as described above—and also look out for others as much as possible in an ever-increasing manner.

The Rebbe teaches that every journey is an opportunity for fulfilling one's Divine mission. After witnessing Jewish perseverance under oppression, one should use religious freedom to inspire others and increase goodness wherever possible.
