נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מיום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, יום גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, בו כותב אודות ההתועדויות בשבועות שעברו, ובודאי ימשיך במנהגו הטוב זה, לכתוב שנדברו יראי ה' איש אל רעהו וגו'. והרי ודאי שדברי ההתעוררות יפעלו סו"ס פעולתם, וכמרז"ל גדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה. ובטח ישתדל להרבות מספר המשתתפים מחוגים ההולכים ומתרחבים מזמן לזמן וכדרישת השעה. והרי זוהי הוראת ימי חנוכה - שמוסיף והולך מיום ליום בענינים דנר מצוה ותורה אור ומאור שבתורה זוהי פנימיות התורה, הנקראת בשם שמן, וכמבואר בכ"מ, והשי"ת יזכהו שיהי' מהמשתדלים בזה ככל הדרוש.

It was pleasant for me to receive your letter from the bright day of the 19th of Kislev, our day of redemption and the liberation of our soul, in which you write about the farbrengens held in recent weeks. Certainly, you will continue this good practice, writing that 'those who fear Hashem spoke to one another,' etc. Surely, words of inspiration will eventually have their effect, as our Sages say: 'Great is study for it leads to action.'
Surely you will strive to increase the number of participants from circles that are expanding from time to time, as is required by the times. This is also the lesson from the days of Chanukah—to add and increase each day in matters of ner mitzvah (the candle of a mitzvah) and Torah Or (the light of Torah), and the luminary within Torah, which is the inner dimension of Torah called oil, as explained elsewhere. May Hashem grant you success to be among those who strive in this as required.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that farbrengens should be continually strengthened and expanded, drawing more participants and increasing inspiration—just as Chanukah teaches us to always add in light and holiness.
