Shalom u'Vrachah!

...After asking forgiveness, as perhaps this may be considered interference on my part without first receiving permission from you, but I rely on what I have heard several times from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), regarding the matter of Ahavas Yisrael (love for a fellow Jew)—how much it should affect each and every Jew, everything that happens with every Jew, even if one has never seen him face to face. Therefore, I allow myself to touch upon this matter as well, namely: Some time ago your brother visited me and in the course of our conversation I also asked about your family situation. He told me that at present you are alone with your daughter (may she live), and I was very surprised why there is no effort being made to seek an appropriate match.

Surely you know what our Sages said about this matter based on the verse 'BaBoker Zera Zarecha u'LaErev...' (In the morning sow your seed and in the evening...), especially since you are still far from 'evening,' and with G‑d's help you will be able to build a home among Israel—a generation of upright will be blessed. But it is obvious that as our Sages say—the way of a man is to seek... and it is written 'And Hashem will bless you in all that you do,' so there must at least be some effort on the part of the person as well. If throughout all years this was necessary, how much more so in these years after the terrible losses suffered by our people Israel. In addition, due to the small number of Jews who are observant and G‑d-fearing, it is all the more clear that anyone who can hope to establish an observant home filled with mitzvah light and Torah illumination and Torah warmth is obligated to make every possible effort in this matter—for all Israel are responsible for one another and this is not just his private concern.

Once again I ask forgiveness for writing about this matter even though I do not know you personally, but I am confident that you will not take offense at all. The main thing is that you reflect on this matter and make efforts in seeking an appropriate match, and may Hashem grant you success.

With blessing for good news in all the above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that seeking to build a Jewish home is both a personal responsibility and a communal one. Even when unsolicited, encouraging others toward positive steps—especially after communal loss—is an act of Ahavas Yisrael.
