זיכער ווייסט איר, אז די ליובאוויטשער ישיבות עקזיסטירן העכער פון 50 יאר, און האבן זיך אלעמאל אויסגעטיילט דערמיט וואס זיי זיינען איבער-פארטייאיש, און ניט אפהענגיק פון קיינע זייטיקע השפעות און אריינמישונגען, און צייכנען זיך מיט שטרענגען יראת-שמים בכל הפרטים.
דערמיט האבן זיך די ליובאוויטשער ישיבות דערווארבן א נאמען איבעראל, א נאמען וואס דערמאנט ניט בלויז א שטאט, נאר איז א סימבאל פון א גאנצער שיטה. די הויפט גרונטן פון דער שיטה פון ליובאוויטשער ישיבות זיינען: שטיין מיט שטארקייט אויף דער פראגראם, וואס דער גרינדער פון דער ישיבה האט אויפגעשטעלט, ניט נאכגעבן פארשידענע-ערליי ווינטן וועלכע בלאזן אין גאס, און ניט צולאזן אויף זיך קיין חותם פון וועלכער פארטיי עס זאל ניט זיין.
ניט קוקנדיק אויף דעם, וואס זייער אפט האט די דאזיקע שטעלונג שווערער געמאכט די פינאנציעלע לאגע פון דער ישיבה, איז פאר די 54 יאר זינט די ישיבות זיינען געגרינדעט געווארן תמיד געמאכט געווארן די גרעסטע אנשטרענגונג ניט אפצוגיין פון דער פראגראם, אפילו ווען עס האט זיך געהאנדלט וועגן קאלאסאלע און שטענדיקע סובסידיעס פון די אדער יענע פארטיי.
פון דעם איבערבליק איבער דער היסטאריע און פירונג פון די ליובאוויטשער ישיבות, איז אויך קלאר, וואס לויט מיין מיינונג, עס דארף זיין אייער שטעלונג אין דער פראגע: עס קאן גאר קיין שאלה ניט זיין וועגן אננעמען א סובסידיע פון א פארטיי, אויב אפילו די סובסידיע וואלט געווען קאלאסאל גרויס, ווארום דאס איז דער היפוך פון דעם ווילן פון די גרינדער פון די ישיבות, וועמענס נאמען און געדאנקען זיינען אונז טייער, און וואס מיר מוזן אנהאלטן מיט אלע כוחות.
בשעת מען נעמט נאך דערצו אין באטראכט, אז נאך אלע חשבונות איז דער בעל-הבית איבער די הכנסה און הוצאה פון א מוסד - דער אויבערשטער, קען א איד, א מאמין, ניט צולאזן דעם געדאנק, אז דורך דעם וואס ער וועט פאלגן דעם אנזאג פון די מייסדי הישיבות, דער שווער דער רבי און זיין פאטער נ"ע, זאל דערפאר דער אויבערשטער געבן ווייניקער הכנסה אין דער ישיבה. אדרבה, בשעת מען וועט זיך האלטן פעסט אין זייערע וועגן, וועט דער אויבערשטער ברייטער מאכן די צינורות און קוואלן אויפצוהאלטן און פארגרעסערן די ישיבות.

I received your letter from Wednesday of Parshas Lech Lecha, where you write that you have an opportunity to receive a subsidy which was allocated at the convention of ... for Yeshivas ... and other yeshivos.
You surely know that the Lubavitcher Yeshivos have existed for over 50 years and have always distinguished themselves by being nonpartisan and independent of any external influences or interference, marked by strict fear of Heaven in all details. Through this stance, the Lubavitcher Yeshivos have earned a reputation everywhere—a name that signifies not just a city but is a symbol of an entire approach.
The main principles of the Lubavitcher Yeshivos are: standing firmly on the program established by the founder of the yeshivah; not yielding to various winds blowing in society; and not allowing themselves to be stamped by any party whatsoever. Even though this position has often made the financial situation more difficult for the yeshivah, for the 54 years since their founding every effort has always been made not to deviate from this program—even when it involved colossal and ongoing subsidies from one party or another.
From this overview of the history and conduct of the Lubavitcher Yeshivos, it is also clear what my opinion is regarding your question: there can be absolutely no question about accepting a subsidy from a party—even if it were colossal—because this is contrary to the will of the founders of these yeshivos, whose names and ideas are dear to us and which we must uphold with all our strength.
When one further considers that after all calculations, the true master over a mosad's income and expenses is the Aibershter (the Almighty), a Jew—a believer—cannot allow himself to think that by following the instructions of the founders—the shver (father-in-law), the Rebbe, and his father of blessed memory—the Aibershter would therefore give less income to the yeshivah. On the contrary: when one holds firmly to their ways, G‑d will broaden the channels and sources to sustain and expand the yeshivos.
