Nachum Telushkin (Community Rabbi and Public Servant)

Nachum Telushkin is addressed in the Rebbe's correspondence as a distinguished rabbi and communal leader, recognized for his exemplary character traits and devoted service to the needs of the Jewish community.

Correspondence with the Rebbe

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, wrote to Nachum Telushkin in response to a report about the positive impact made by students of Tomchei Temimim who visited his synagogue during Simchas Torah. The Rebbe expresses appreciation for the uplifting influence these students had on the congregation and emphasizes that their merit is even greater than it appears, as their visit required them to leave the company of fellow Chabad chassidim to inspire others, all while maintaining a spirit of joy and gladness.

The Rebbe extends a heartfelt blessing that the joy of Simchas Torah and the broader festival season should permeate the entire year, invoking the teaching that "Simchah poretz geder"—joy breaks through all boundaries—so that all obstacles and limitations in the lives of the Jewish people may be removed, resulting in a year of visible goodness both materially and spiritually. The Rebbe also enclosed a booklet on Chabad communal activism, expressing confidence that it would be of interest to Rabbi Telushkin.
