כהן - אלכסנדר

Alexander Cohen — Correspondent

This summary is drawn from the Rebbe's letters to him (the 1940s and about 5728, 1968); I did not find a published biography.

What the letters show

Growth and resolutions. The Rebbe taught that true growth means not only following good paths but breaking free of one's limitations (IK 189), and that Rosh Hashanah is like a head guiding the body — resolutions made then guide the whole year (IK 198).

Tzedakah. While halachah sets minimums for giving tzedakah, true Jewish compassion goes further (IK 271), and inspiring others to support Torah causes brings even greater merit (IK 344).

Halachic questions. On complex halachic questions, consult recognized halachic authorities (IK 9728).
